Behind the page...

I've always been fascinated by stories. When I was young I would create my own adventures and record them on cassette tapes in my room. Comics were my escape from an early age. I remember reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in school and I utterly disliked Eustace Clarence Scrubb.I was transfixed by the world though. I had never read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, so it was all new to me. Later I picked up Ursula K. Le Guin and from there I wandered into the world of Tolkien, Moorcock and Pratchett. Later I discovered Eddings hiding in a bookstore. His books, not the man himself.Where Tolkien showed me that a world can be grand and beyond my wildest imagination, Le Guin showed me that I didn't have to understand everything to be pulled into the story.Together they taught me that worlds are built by the author and reader together. The author draws the lines and the reader colours them in the way they see it.Pratchett and Eddings taught me that laughing with the characters is perfectly fine.Later in my teens I encountered Stephen King and didn't sleep for a week. The Pet Sematary still haunts me to this day.I spent decades not trusting my own written word. It wasn't until October 2025, after I was made redundant and several health scares had affected my family, that I thought I'd give it a try.So, I started a novel. The first book in a trilogy.A slow-burn, dark fantasy with psychological undertones. Written in English.
Did I mention I'm Swedish?
Why start at the easy level when you can apparently just go straight past difficult and end up somewhere in the shadowless winter forests outside Stoerton?

Ink cloud writing...

When I write I don't think of chapters as blocks that slot neatly together. Instead I see a story like ink clouds in water.A cloud is squirted in, it spreads, blooms, and takes on its own shape. The next cloud is squirted in. It spreads at a different speed, blooms, mixes with tendrils from previous ink clouds and takes on its own shape. No cloud is like any of the others. They all have their own colours and shape, but together they affect the colour of the water. And that colour is not what I create. It's what the reader sees in their mind.
